I am based in the Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts, and am currently accepting students for in person lessons at my studio in Easthampton, as well as accepting online students domestically and internationally.
Becoming proficient on a musical instrument and developing good technique is the result of a natural and efficient use of the body as it relates to playing, and this is achieved through practice that is both consistent and mindful. Good technique is something that should be strived for; not as an end in and of itself, but as my former teacher wisely said, “as a vehicle for expression.” Good technique should allow one to feel the utmost freedom of expression when playing, and therefore the utmost enjoyment! However, if a student is not engaged and inspired, it is difficult to find the motivation to develop a solid technical foundation on cello, which is not an easy instrument to play well!
Connecting with my students and developing trust is paramount to me, and I work hard to find ways of motivating and engaging each of my students.
